dc.description.abstract The specialization course in Surgery in the University of Dar es Salaam covers three years, two of which is devoted to general surgery while one year is spent in orthopaedic and trauma; ENT, Pediatric surgery, and Obstetric and Gynaecology specialities. This dissertation forms a part of the requirement for the award of master of medicine degree in surgery. It consists of ten surgical conditions seen and entirely or partially managed by the author. It is divided into three parts. Part one consists of six cases pertaining to general surgery, part two consists of two cases in urology, and part three, two cases in orthopaedic and trauma. All these have been studied during the three years of the course. A detailed case report of one patient followed by review of characteristic features of the remaining patients in each subject and finally a review of literature is presented. en_GB
