dc.description.abstract The main objective of this study was to determine the point prevalence of hypertension and prevalence of relevant risk factors in adult male s and female s of Sayu Sayu Village in Shinyanga Region, Tanzania. A survey of 773 individuals revealed a point prevalence of 60210. The hypertensives included all persons with diastolic blood pressures 7.95 mm and or systolic blood pressure 7160 mm. The study showed a significant increase in hypertension with increasing age, but there was no overall sex difference in its ~prevalence. The most important risk factors found in the study population were age, obesity, glycosuria, tobacco, and alcohol usage. en_GB
