Abstract

This dissertation partially fulfills the requirements of

It consists

Surgery of the often common

surgical conditions as seen at the Muhimbili Medical Centre, in whose management the author has actively participated. It is divided into three parts. Part one consists of five cases of general surgery, and these include Burns, AppendiCitis, Spleen rupture, Kaposis Sarcoma, and Breast cancer. Part two consists of Urologic problems i.e. Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy, and Carcinoma of the Urinary bladder. Part three deals with Orthopedic and 'Trauma in which Chronic Osteomyelitis, Congenital Clubfoot,

and Soft tissue knee injuries are discussed.

In each

condition a case is presented in detail, while the rest of the cases are summarised, relevant literature reviewed, and a discussion of each condition is presented.
